Problem Note 61438: Creating a Netezza view fails with “ERROR: The create view statement cannot be executed directly against the database because of errors”

SAS® Data Integration Studio can be used to model processes that create Netezza tables and then create Netezza views that reference these tables. You might encounter an issue in which the Netezza view creation code fails with this error:
ERROR: The create view statement cannot be executed directly against the database because of errors.
You might encounter this issue when you perform steps similar to the following:
- Run the SAS Data Integration job that creates the Netezza table and then creates a Netezza view of that same table.
- Modify the SAS Data Integration job and change one of the column names in the Netezza table and view.
- Attempt to run the job again. The Netezza table is deleted and re-created, but the Netezza view creation code fails with the error mentioned above.
To circumvent the issue, use SQL procedure pass-through code similar to the following to delete the Netezza view:

connect to netezza (database=nz_database server=nz_server authdomain="NetezzaAuth" );
execute (drop view nz_view_name) by netezza;
disconnect from netezza;
quit;
connect to netezza (database=nz_database server=nz_server authdomain="NetezzaAuth" );
execute (drop view nz_view_name) by netezza;
disconnect from netezza;
quit;
